A few weeks ago I was in the market for a new acoustic guitar because I was unsure how my 550 compared to the newer Takamine products. So off I went to the local gurus, credit card in hand fully intent on a purchase. after the demos I took mine out and asked the sales guy to give me his opinion,( remember ours has no electrics)After a few moment he he called in a second opinion, then went off and fetched a a Tri-AX sound hole pickup and after installing it, they unanimously agreed that it may not be the same quality as the Takamine but sound wise compared very well. The only thing I did myself is set the guitar up for my playing style and replaced the nut and the bridge with Tusq products - I love my Charvel
