What kind of old guitar do I have? Is it valuable? How old is it? Where was it made? Is it worth repairing? Advice on buying new or used guitars, accessories, etc. [Note: While I can give some general info on approximate values of types of instruments, neither I nor anyone else can do an "appraisal" without actually seeing and handling the instrument] I have almost 40 years` experience as a player and afficianado. If I don`t have an answer myself, I can often refer people to other authoritative sources.

I have an old electric guitar my father gave me for Christmas in 1966 that is an "Orpheus" also. It is more a dark blonde in color, shaped like a Les Paul a bit, and I have always wondered who the real manufacturer was. I have held onto it only because of the sentimental value of the Christmas gift. I thought I would just add that to this discussion.

Actually, these imports (if they are Japanese, which this one probably is)is worth at least 150- 200 dollars. Check out eBay under 'MIJ' (made in Japan).

'Orpheus' were a Bulgarian brand of guitar (made under communist rule at the time) during the 60's to the 80's. The name was also spelled 'Orfeus', when it was for domestic sale in Bulgary. So yours would have been one that was manufactured for export

Dear Corey

Youre guitar might be a bulgarian product, they made this guitars till late 90's, but what intriegues me is that their logo is Orfeus not Orpheus, sometimes they write on the pickups Orpheus but never on the headstock(so far I know).
About the value of such a guitar(if it is an Orfeus)don't excedes 150 euro.
If you send me photos I might tell you more about the guitar(I am pretty familiar with this guitars because I'm from Romania and bulgarian guitars where selled in Romania)

Ovi
