The guitar is modeled after the Mossman Golden Era The six string model is in the guitar hall of fame.  I'm still looking to see if steve mossman ever made a golden era twelve string.  i would value this guitar at around 2k. i have both.

The 456s Takamine was not a copy of some Martin guitar, please check out the headstock design of the Stuart Mossman Golden Era guitars which are considered to be exceptional in quality.  Well as i have heard the Takamine co. took Martins Guilds and Gibsons and Mossman guitars of the higher end variety and copied them like you stated, but are superior in quality and materials to many of their other models, they were the best or top of their line.  All in all a pretty high quality guitar.  Check it out for yourself.

What kind of old guitar do I have? Is it valuable? How old is it? Where was it made? Is it worth repairing? Advice on buying new or used guitars, accessories, etc. [Note: While I can give some general info on approximate values of types of instruments, neither I nor anyone else can do an "appraisal" without actually seeing and handling the instrument] I have almost 40 years` experience as a player and afficianado. If I don`t have an answer myself, I can often refer people to other authoritative sources.
