About Dave Dixon
Expertise
Guitar player since 1987. Studied at Musicians` Institute. Worked as guitar/music teacher since 1991.

Experience
Since joining AllExperts I have been getting rated with 9's and 10's from most of the people I've answered questions from, so I guess that I must be doing something right. Not all that many people can be wrong. Questions about theory, technique, equipment, players, history, etc. welcome - just about anything in fact. The only things I prefer not to answer are requests for transcriptions, or equipment assessments/valuations.

Question
I have a stagg CA.10 guitar amp if i get a bass guitar do i need a new amp?

Answer
Hi Becci,
Thanks for your question.
Yes...if you get a bass guitar, then you will need a bass amp.
In theory, you could plug your bass into your guitar amp and still hear it OK, but (1) the sound quality would be poor, (2) it is possible that you could damage the speakers as they are not designed for reproducing the kind of low-end sound that a bass guitar produces.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
Cheers,
Dave
