Guitar Making and Repair/nitro cellulose flexibility

Paul- are there any ingredients that can be added to cabinet grade nitro cellulose that will enhance flexibility. I have a little more than 3 gallons and would not like to see it go to waste. It would be used on a classical guitar build{s} using Jim Williams book as reference.

Hi, UD:

There are flex additives made for various paints, but I've never experimented with them in nitrocellulose. In the "old days", when nitro was the only game in town, modified castor oil was used as a flex additive.

I suspect that some of the flex agents that are made for automotive polyurethane color coats (used mostly in refinishing painted soft bumpers), would work with nitro, but I'd experiment a bit if I were you before using it on a precious instrument.
