About Patrick
Expertise
I can answer questions pertaining to beginner or expert acoustic or electric guitar. Guitar repair and set up. Song writing and basic copyright laws. Recording music in the studio or live recording and set up. Questions concerning, booking your band and what wages you can expect.

Experience
I have played guitar for 40 years and performed for over 30 years. During this time I have gained knowledge of the music business in Guitar repairs, makes and models, equipment for guitar and recording. By doing my own work, I have saved hundreds of dollars. I am not a legal expert, but I have knowledge of the music business and I keep up with the changes in the business.

Awards and Honors
I have songs that I wrote that have been recognized by Billboard and I had a top ten country song in Europe. I have a band that has worked together for 20years and we still make our living playing music. I love this business and like to help others learn about this exciting business.

Guitar Music - Can it even be done?

Question
My High School is having it's winter concert for our Chorus class on December the 15th.
I have my heart set out on trying for a solo song spot.
I have my electric guitar and i practice everyday although im still nothing great on the guitar and im clearly a beginner.
I want to play the song "Helena" by My Chemical Romance.
I'm not sure if me, being a beginner can play this song.
I would like some basic feedback, on if this is even possible to learn by then, even with complete dedication.

Answer
Wow Izzy, that would be hard for me to conceive. First off I don't know the song and second I don't know where you are at on the guitar.
I will tell you that I have had to learn songs on the fly and they have come off good and them some not so good. I would try to learn it as fast as you can, get with someone that you can trust that will tell you the truth, and give it to them. Try and knock their socks off. If it is good, them go for it. If they give you some bad vibes, then work on it and do it again some other time.
It is best to be ready, then to go on and look bad.

Good luck

Patrick
