Guitar Music - New PUs for Epiphone Les Paul 2005

Question
What would be the best PU combination for a 2005 Epiphone Les Paul Standard, to make it have the great sustain and clean sound(something like Gary Moore style playing)?  I have a Vox AD30VT amp.  Thanks in advance

Answer
Hey Hal,

Great question! I have always loved the sound of the solid chrome humbuckers. I used a SG-Gibson with an L-5 Lab Series amp. I could get more sustain then I needed. Sounded almost like Carlos!!!
I like playing with clean sound. but the sustain gives it a fatness that sounds incredible.
The humbucker, solid coil, gives that kind of performance.
I could name dozens of guitarist that used them through the years.
The older the better. If you can find them, have a pro guitar tech install them, that way if you have any problems with ground noise, he can take care of that. Remember that the older solid coils tend to pick up the 60hz that is usually put out by tube lighting or fluorescent bulbs. Most of the time a switch in polarity will solve that.

I really think that you would like the solid coil humbucker, you could also add the humbucker to any other pick up arrangement and use a three way switch to operate the different pick up's.

Hope this helps you

Keep Jammin'

Patrick
