Question i just purchesed a red Ibanez RG120 and i'm having one single issue with it thats bugging me. the high e string and it's first fret do not ring out. i've checked and it has nothing to do with my amp. i think that the string is simply to close to the fretboard, but yt again i could be wrong. i'm very grateful for your help!

Answer Hi Chris, I know this problem can be very irritating. I can relate! If your e string is too close to the fret board, nine times out of ten you would have buzzing and not muffling. Is the string buzzing? Is any of the other strings doing the same thing? If not, then change the bad string with a new one and check to see that the string is setting in bridge and nut properly. I have gotten bad strings right out of a new package of Elixirs'. They tend to be dead sounding or muffled if they are bad.
If your string is too close to the fret board, raise the action a bit at the saddle( Bridge).
If all fells, take it back to hear you bought it and have them set the guitar up for you or see an experienced guitar service person.
