Question
What is the value of a Winchester 20 gauge shotgun model 1200 in excellent condition?

Answer
Pat,

Unfortunately, there were three different versions of the Winchester 1200, so I don't know which one you have.  Here's a rough breakdown of what your choices are.

The Winchester 1200 came in three versions in 20 gauge.  The "Field Grade", the "Magnum" and the "Skeet Gun".  All were very similar.

The "Field Grade"  would have a 26, 28 or 30 inch barrel, an alloy receiver, a checkered pistol grip stock and a butt pad.  It could also have a ventilated rib, the WinChoke system and some models came with the Winchester 'recoil reduction system' (only available on guns made between 1966 and 1970).

The "Magnum" was chambered to accept 3 inch magnum shells.  The "Skeet Gun" had a ventilated rib, a skeet bore and only had a two shot magazine.

If you have the most common version of the Field Grade, the average values would be as follows:

98% - $180
95% - $165
90% - $140
80% - $110

The ventilated rib adds about $25 to the values above.  The WinChoke adds another $5 to $10 dollars.  If you are lucky enough to have the 'recoil reduction system', that adds roughly 30% to the values above.  These values are based on the 28th Edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values.

Values for the "Magnum" are comparable to the "Field Grade".  The "Skeet Gun" is roughly 20% higher than the "Field Grade".  Without seeing detailed photos, it is difficult to try and grade the condition of the gun, so I hope the ranges give you what you are looking for.

Feel free to ask any follow up questions if you like.

Regards,

Doug
