I hold a AS from Eastern Conn. State Univ. and a BA from Trinity College, Hartford Ct. Plus 11 other professional certifications. I have received 31 awards for various activities. QUESTION: Hi Paul, I have a Model 11 Remington 12 gauge shotgun that has scribing of a pheasant scene that is typical but the fact that the gun is chrome finished is where I am puzzled. I cannot find any other that has the chrome finish. Thought you may know more information. Also, the gun has been in my family for many years but nobody knows the real history. I would like to put a new stock and forearm to freshen up the gun.

QUESTION: NO. We went to the Remington Web site and found that it was made between Feb and March of 1938 according to the serial number. It also has a chrome modified choke on the end of the barrel. We figured someone had it chromed.

That would be my guess, it was done after market.
How close are you to salt water?
Merchant Marine used shotguns often were chrome or nickle plated as rust prevention.

you could have a stock made.

I would also snail mail Remington about the gun.
Maybe it was custom order, Presentation gun or small number limited edition.
Include photos of the gun and its serial number.
