Question Paul, Can you tell me the value of a Winchester Mod 1886 38-56 with a 20" barrel? A saddle ring carbine. I understand they only made 113 of these. It is in good condition.
Answer Not really sure if only 113 were made in that caliber. They were made from 1886-1935, total production of 159,900 in 10 calibers. Of these the .38-70, .40-70 and .50-100-450 are the rarest. Usually carbines had a 22" barrel, so either yours has been cut or it was specially ordered. In 50% condition it books at $5,000., in 90% condition $12,000.. Nice rifle! Thanks.
