Guns, Firearms, Projectile Weapon Sports - recoil

Expert: Paul Johnston - 8/7/2007

Question
I am looking for the best buy of a handgun 9mm or 380 that has a light recoil. My wife wants to fire it also.

Answer
Unless you reload and make them light, they all recoil the same, what you really want is a gun which weighs more. Heavier gun= less perceived recoil. Also, an auto. kicks less than a revolver. If you go with a small or compact gun it will jump more, and usually are not as well made if you go cheap. If you want a gun that will shoot well (accurate) and kick less go with a major brand in a full size or semi-compact. I will recommend the new Armalite A-24, good pistol. Handles and shoots well, reasonably priced and all steel, which adds a bit to the weight but well designed and will last forever. Thanks.
