Question QUESTION: I am an MALE of 18 years of age. I want to take gymnastics to help me when I try to become a profesional wrestler, cause I want to become a high-flyer type wrestler so I thought maybe gymnastics might help me very much, am I right? Anyway I want get started before I do THE DIET wich is doing cardio, eating small portions but alot, using vitamins stuff like that. You have any hints for my career as a wrestler or gymnastics near me in Miami? Thanks in advance.
ANSWER: Akeem,
Taking on two sports at once is tough to do. I can remember in the day. Wrestling isn't an easy sport it takes lots of constant weight control as well as strength and flexibility. Now the high flier type must be the studio/professional actor type on the television. I have worked with several of that type as well teaching them to flip from the ropes and land successfully on top of their opponents. That type of wrestler is more of a Hollywood stunt man type learning to look like it hurts and not really getting hurt. Being large and strong, flexible and balanced will all contribute to your success in that field. Training in Gymnastics will certainly help you to be more agile and avoid injuries in the wrestling field. just be prepared to train every day for at least an hour for each event you decide to learn and don't forget the extra hours to add for strength and flexibility training every day. I am glad you plan to start your Diet too it will help you maintain your weight quicker if you balance your diet. You might want to add trampoline and tumbling to your list of events to include in training they should also help you to do your areal skills and the tumbling should help you to avoid injury in your landings in the ring. The path you have chosen requires lots of work good luck and let me know if i can help with anything specific on the way.

QUESTION: Thank you your response really helped me. At least I know now that gymnastics can help me out in the professional wrestling stage. But I'm not gonna do them both at the same time, well more than likely I'll be going to a wrestling school while learning gymnastics or do gymnastics before wrestling school. But the thing is I'm having very hard problems finding a gym or school for both gymnastics and pro wrestling. Now i live in Miami. Opa Locka, Fl. And I was wondering if you know a gymnastic instructor gym, or at least a wrestling school to help me with my career? Thank you again for your first answer.
Answer I know that there used to be a school by the hangars at the airport in Fort lauderdale i think but that was 40 years ago I will also recommend that you look at tumbuling schools or cheerleading schools that teach tumbuling that should be Very beneficial to you in your professional Wrestling career learning to flip and rebound will defiantly give you the jump on your competitors...;)
I got some phone numbers here for some gyms you can call and perhaps ask if they have any adult programs you could work on your skills in their gyms in.
