Gymnastics - Horrible Wrist flexiblity
Expert: Dean Dryer - 10/25/2009
Question Hi Dean, I hope you can help.
This isn't much about gymmnastics but, I find it painful and difficult to stretch my wrists. My palms don't touch the floor when I do a simple baby or hand-glide. One of my inner knuckles hurt when I try to stretch my wrists, and it seems like my bone in my hand is preventing it being stretched.
When I put pressure on my wrist stretching it palm down, I see my hand & wrist area muscles spazz out, not to mention it hurts a bit to stretch my right wrist.
What gives, I want to improve them.

Answer JT,
Sorry it took me so long to answer, but I have been out of town away from my computer.
Anyway, the kind of inflexibility that those pictures showed has to be some kind of structural problem in your wrists. My advice would be to consult an orthopedist, perhaps even try to find one that specializes in hands and wrists. My guess is that an X-ray or MRI will show exactly what the problem is.
Best of luck with it,
Dean Dryer
