Gymnastics - Squatting front tucks

Expert: Robert Davis - 6/25/2009

Question
Hi there !
I just recently started gymnastics about 2 months ago so my strength isn't all
there yet obviously. Since I only have lessons once a week for an hour, what
would be the best way to build strength and improve in between lessons ?
Also, when I land my front tucks I always end up squatting. Any tips to help
me land correctly ?
Thanks a lot in advance !

Answer
Hi Sally,
Doing front tucks after 2 months is great!  I think any type of exercise you enjoy will benefit your gymnastics, but tuck jumps and frog jumps (jumping from a squat and landing in a squat as far forward as possible and then repeating that across a room or yard or wherever you are) specifically would help with your height during front tucks, which will help you to land better.
Regards,
Robert
