Question
Hi. I just had a quick question about getting back into gymnastic. I stopped gymnastics when i was 11 and i am now 16 and am still wishing i never had to stop. I am starting private tumbling in a week and know I am capable of that, but I was wondering if it was possible for me to also get back on the beam after this many years. The beam was always my favorite. And if it is possible, what are some good tips and other important information to keep in mind?

Answer
Hi Nicole,
That's great to hear about you getting back into something you enjoy doing.  One thing I learned after taking extended periods "off" was that your body remembers the movements but you'll need to do some extra conditioning and stretching for awhile and start slow so you can enjoy yourself and feel confident doing it again.  Anything (like the beam) is possible for you if you ease into it.
Regards,
Robert
