Expert: Pam Rafe-Borges - 9/3/2009

Question
Hi, my daughter is a level 9 this year. Is there a book i can purchase that will break down for me what each skill level each skill is? For an example... Doing a RO, handspring, whip, 1 1/2 twist punch front. Im curious to know what each skill level as far as A, B, C those are and what combanations you can use to bonus with. not only on floor but bars and beam as well. I hope this email makes since. Thank you for your time

Answer
Hi Carolyn,

The Code of Points is the only official book that lists the rules.  It is available for purchase at the USA Gymnastics web page.  Please keep in mind if ordering, the Code is in it's first printing and there are many errors and updates that have to be adjusted.  Those updates are also available on the website.

The code is a technical manual.  It is not laid out for someone who does not have the technical knowledge to either coach or judge.  It is a bit of a tough read if you are not familiar with the terminology of the sport.

Enjoy the sport!!
