Gymnastics - About trampolining

Expert: Jamie - 8/5/2004

Question
What do you do as a trampolinist, and can you tell me a fact. I am doing a report on gymnastics , so it would be nice if I can get this information. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Sarah,

There are 4 events in Trampoline Sports: Individual Trampoline, Synchronised Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline & Power Tumbling. At the moment Individual Trampoline is the only event competed at the Olympics so thats what I will tell you about.

You do 2 routines of 10 skills. In the first routine you must complete certain requirements, and in the second you can do whatever you want (its where you get to show off youre hardest skills). These skills can be somersaults, with or without twists depending on the level of the gymnast.

A fact about trampolining is that Australia won its first ever Olympic gymnastics medal in trampolining at the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney. Ji Wallace came 2nd on Individual Trampoline at these games.

I hope that this information helps with your report...

Thanks for asking. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Jamie
