Question
I downloaded an image from flickr which is 2800 X 2100 but when I upload and put it on my website it appears small (about 500 wide). I tried changing the width attribute but it can only become smaller not bigger. My page width is about 800 and the image is no where near that size. Why? Below it the link to the image.

Answer
Hi there,

without seeing the code you're using on your website to embed the image, I can't really help with this issue.

Generally, you'd use this tag:

<img src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jylcat/1435324437/in/photolist-3bQpX4-o3Eg8h-cdA6bA-3bQkLa-3PikGQ-3PdXQB-e2tu5d-nLtUrV-7or17u-e2nRFc-3WpzTo-d11uaq-79xwDV-79xx4D-9DCj54-fNKQ17-duEBDW-cdA4zo-cdA5HE-bWdKyg-bWdKhV-6wDzKk-hLYQQL-nQQeyC-nAo7U3-79xsw4-79xqVX-79wprk-79xvM8-79Bdw5-79zPh1-79xjAk-5bkq8e-oX4PzE-8kBkWA-8aVHVZ-8aZ11N-8aZ1b3-8aYZQq-8aZ1Ku-8aZ1nC-8aYZvG-8aZ1XE-8aVJvB-8aVGAV-8aVP7n-8aVNPn-592FbQ-cvkKJ9-9JqJsX" alt="Crab" style="width:500px;" />

Experience

Experience in the area I have been a web designer/developer since 1997. I started developing websites with HTML 3.2 and using tables for layout. In 2006 I received my degree in Computational Media, and now work full time as a Webmaster and Interactive Media Author, as well as teaching continuing education courses on HTML, CSS and ActionScripting at my local college. Currently I design with XHTML and CSS - no tables and much cleaner and more accessible code and allows the designer more freedom and flexibility than tables.
