HUD Properties - section 8 housing and FHA LOANS

Expert: Vito Simone of Tenant Buyer Homes - 10/21/2002

Question
WHAT IS SECTION 8 HOUSING MEAN? WHAT KIND OF ASSISTANCE DO THEY OFFER AND WHAT ARE THE DRAWBACKS OF A FHA LOAN? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

Answer
Section 8 is primarily a rental program. however, there are some states that allow you to use a Section 8 Voucher towards a mortgage payment.  Check with your local housing authority or a local real estate agent.  If you are in Maryland, we can help you directly.

The primary advantage to an FHA loan is the loan downpayment requirements, flexible credit criteria and availability from many lenders.

Check out the HUD website directly at: www.hud.gov for detailed information on many housing issues and programs.

I hope this helps you.

Best Wishes,

Vito Simone, Broker
