Hair Color/Highlight or Rinse?

Hello!  For economic reasons, I now need to dye my own hair.  Presently, my hairdresser gives me a lot of highlights (and occasionally adds in lowlights).  My real haircolor is a light-medium brown and I have a good amount of gray hair coming in, so the ash blonde highlights help a lot.  As regrowth starts, should I try a highlighting kit or would I be better off using an overall rinse to cover everything with one color? Also, any brand recommendations?   Thanks a million!

Hi Renee,

There's not enough information to give you a proper answer that would be spot on. You say, you are a medium brown and get  "a lot of highlight". What am I assume you look like? A medium blonde? I need to see what you look like to answer this. Next, a highlighting kit? There's nothing on the market that will match what your hairdresser does. My best answer at this time it to buy a permanent hair color that matches your own natural tones, hit the root re-growth and than shampoo in the rest of the color to blend.

I must reaffirm, without seeing what you have this answer may or may not be the right answer. If you send me a picture I may be able to be better spot on. In reference to product. Any drugstore will have what you need. FERIA happens to work well with what yo have in mind.

I want to really help you, but I don't want to stir you in the wrong direction.

All the best

I started as a young assistant at Vidal Sassoon in 1982 and got the training that has always sustained me throughout my professional life. I first became involved in hair color in the mid 80s when I realized that my passion for painting was a vehicle understanding hair color. I joined the industry of hair color teaching and began a career as a platform artist in 1991. The next 25 years, took me across the USA and North America doing all hair shows, demonstrations on both hair cutting and hair coloring. I went from regional education, to national, eventually crossing into North America and being promoted as the USA Artistic Director for It&lyhairfashion, N.A. My hair salon is an award-winning destination for hair expertise, and I am proud to say that I have one of the most elite hair expert teams working for me.
