QUESTION: Thank u for your last response. I have a great derm and will ask her to do a biopsy, as you suggested. Unfortunately, the earliest appt is Jan.
In the meantime, I would like to tell you how much WORSE my condition is in just 5 months.( I know everyone who writes to you says that but I promise u it is true) In July, I could still style and tease my hair to hide condition. 5 months later, I cannot do that anymore. Suddenly, hair all over head is thin and flyaway and cannot style or DETANGLE at all. This was not true just a few months ago!
Can this possibly be from upping my Sprio from 50 to 150, ADDING Yasmin and upping rogaine to 5% ?!
I have now left my job and can't go to my childrens functions. Im afraid the meds are CAUSING this but know not to ever stop them unless told to by my dr.
Thought I was doing everything right. Need any wisdom you can provide! Thanks so Much! Beth
ANSWER: If you are having tangles with your hair, I would try a conditioner after you shampoo. This should help. You may be have two conditions with your scalp. You may have female pattern hair loss and you may have what is called a telogen effluvium which is where the hair goes into a shedding phase. In 20 years of being a dermatologist, I have never seen medications cause hair to behave like you describe.

QUESTION: Thank you again. I will be seeing my endocrinologist in Birmingham,AL next week. Can you suggest anything I could ask him to check or questions I should be asking? And do you agree with the treatment of 200mg SPIRO,YASMIN and ROGAINE 5%? I have been on Spiro 7 yrs. Obviously not working. Is there med I can ask him to try ?
The change in my hair texture/diameter IS very dramatic. My sylist has given me every conditioner and leave in you can imagine and nothing works. There is nowhere to part the hair to cover the scalp anymore.
I have had 2 derms tell me AGA, another tell me not AGA but TE. You are obviously right, I have BOTH !
Appeciate your advice. Not sleeping or functioning well last few weeks!Stuck in this nightmare that I can see will never be over. Beth

Hair loss is not treated with spiro and yasmin. The problem you may have is that if you go off of these medications you can precipitate or make the shedding phase worse. If the diameter of you hair is less that is suggestive of female pattern hair loss. Stress makes any skin condition worse. I hope your dermatologist can help you.
