Hair Loss - your answer to my question

Expert: Michael S. Fisher, Ph.D., M.D. - 10/27/2009

Question
THANK YOU Dr. Fisher for always responding.
Your last answer threw me for a loop and I need you to elaborate.
You said that "Hair loss is not treated with Spiro and Yasmin..."
I saw and Endocrinologist, paid over $700, and he told me to take 150mg spiro and the Yasmin for my hairloss! My Dermatologist told me take the Sprio but NOT the Yasmin......
I am sure all of us want to know what is going on with the doctors answers on this?! And am I being given these drugs as a SCAM or what?!?! Extremely tired of vague answers and the runaround by all these "professionals" in person AND on the web.
Thank You. Sincerely, Beth

Answer
With all of the dermatology meetings that I attend, no dermatologist prescribes Yasmin or Spiro to treat hair loss. The only treatment that is talked about is Rogaine for Men and sometimes Propecia in postmenopausal women. I have never seen patients treated for hair loss with Yasmin and Spiro. I have seen acne treated with spiro and yasmin but not hair loss. Is the Yasmin and Spiro working to cure or treat your hair loss?
