Hair Loss - hair loss due to yasmin

Expert: Michael S. Fisher, Ph.D., M.D. - 10/31/2009

Question
hi, so i have been using yasmin for 3 to 4 yrs now and ive noticed how my thick black hair has become so thin and ive began losing hair. ive seen dermatologists and they couldn't come up with anything. my doctor suggested switching to desogen and to try it out. i want to know, is she correct in giving me this advice on trying desogen, or does yasmin not create hair loss??

Answer
Did your dermatologists do a scalp biopsy to determine the type of hair loss you have? You may be developing Female Pattern Hair loss which is genetic. The only treatment for this is Rogaine for Men because it is stronger. If you have Female Pattern Hair loss, trying Desogen will not help your hair loss. I have never seen hair loss improve changing from one BCP to another.
