Experience My interest in female hair loss sprung from my own experience with extensive hair loss. Determined to grow my hair back, I diligently studied every piece of information I could find on the biology of hair growth. After successfully re-growing my hair with safe and effective natural products, I felt compelled to learn more and to share this information with other women. I am experienced in blending custom hair loss formulas. I am also experienced in writing about female hair loss issues.

Education/Credentials I am a certified aromatherapist specializing in formulas for scalp and hair conditions.
Question This question does not have anything to do with a woman loosing her hair however, I have wanted to know the answer to it for awhile.
What is the reason that long hair makes women look older as they age? Over the years I have noticed that many women who have long hair when they are in there teens up until say 40 years old have long hair that is very beautiful yet keeping their hair long as they age into their 50's seems to make them look much older than their actual age, which is why many of them cut their hair then. When they cut their hair they tend to look younger again. Why? (Thank you)
Answer This is an interesting question but I'm sorry but I don't know the answer. Perhaps a hair stylist would be better informed to give an answer. I have seem some women who look beautiful in long hair but in general longer hair does seem to age older women. It could be that the hair itself is not as thick, healthy, shiny and bouncy as the hair of a younger women. I hope you get a good answer!
Sincerely, Melanie Vonzabuesnig
