Hair Loss/Hair and scalp questions

Hello Dr. Kamal,
I have questions such as what causes hair thinning in men? Could it be less testosterone? Also what brings up hair loss? My grandfather is bald but he wishes to have hair again.

Dear Andrew

Thank you very much for your query.
Less testosterone never causes hair loss (Women have very low testosterone.
Causes of thinning of hair or Hair loss in men are-
1. Increase activity of testosterone in hair root.
2. Any major physical or mental illness.
3. Chemical & Heat on hair or Scalp.
4. Chlorine in water.
5. Ultraviolet light damage.
6. Traction.

Your grandfather may be an elderly person. So he may not respond to medical treatment.
Only definitive treatment for elderly are HAIR TRANSPLANT.
