Hair Loss/Hair straightener and AGA

Question
Hello

Dr Peter, can a person with AGA use hair straightener on his hair for the purpose of straightening?

Answer
Yes. The hair that has come out of the scalp it just like wool on sheep. It is a dead fiber. The only part that is alive is the hair follicle in the skin. You can straighten and color it without it affecting how it grows.
Too much of that kind of abuse to the hair can cause it to weaken and break along the shaft.
