Question Doctor, I am in a difficult situation. I have tried Propecia. I believe that my dht level has increased, therefore I have started to shed heavily again. I live in the Northern Virginia/MD/DC area. I have gone to 4 dermatologists and all of them have no answer for my hairloss and they are not willing to perscribe me Proscar or Avodart, because they say that it is not for that use(hairloss). Do you know any Doctor in the N. Virginia/MD/DC area that will be willing to Perscribe me Avodart? Thank you.
Answer First of all you should ask for a serum Testosterone and DHT level so you know where you are now. I do not know of a specific doctor who would prescribe Avodart but I think if you go to Google and look for --Washinton DC Avodart Hair Loss you may find a long list of possible doctors. I know that many doctors are prescribing it but do not know about office locations. Perhaps more phone calls is in order to doctors who are listed as specializing in hair loss. I know that all dermatologists are supposed to be experts in skin, hair and nails but the fact is that some have specialized more in hair or nails than others.
