Hair Loss - Discoloration, bumps, puss, scalp

Expert: Peter J. Panagotacos, M.D. - 10/8/2006

Question
For the last 5 years I've had these tiny that come onto my scalp around the front hair line. They have puss in them visible when you press them and after a number of visits to dermatologists I've not had any success. I just started using tea tree oil + lavender to see if the helps. One area is abou 3x2 cm and the other two are pencil erasure size. all affected areas have become very dark. Regular cleaning lessens re occurence but the skin remains very dark
thank you

Answer
i'm sorry but this problemwill require seeing a dermatologist again. It is too complicated to give a short answer other than to say it can be an infection which needs long term therapy with antibiotics, special soaps such as a benzoyl peroxide soap, and topcial medical therapy.
