About Kimberly Belk Expertise As a registered nurse, I can help you understand the type of hair loss you suffer and the goals of your physician`s treatment plan. As someone who suffers alopecia, I can explain treatment options and coping with the disease. Question Im a 19 year old and i am losing my hair fast. I have receeding hair and on top it is thinning. At the back and sides my hair is thick but its so depressing and i think i will look stupid if i shave it all off but i dont seem to have a choice. Is there anything i can do, can hair grow back if i do something- dont know what though. My brother is older but his hair is fine, This time last year i had a full fringe, i dont understand. Im not overweight, im healthy and do not eat meat. Im not suffering from stress but i am kind of now because of my hair loss. Any advice?
Answer Hi Jamie,
It sounds like you have typical male pattern baldness. I've seen this happen in many families. Your genetic make-up is what determines this, and there is really nothing you can do to change it. You can try Rogaine, and that may slow the rate of hair loss.
