hello kimberly,
i have this small patch formed on my right cheek where hairgrowth has stopped. it looks like an island with no hair...........this has been slowly but steadily spreading.
i approached one dermatologist who told me its my roots being decayed n i need to take injections, i wasnt so convinced & on second opinion i was told tht it may be a fungal growth.
please advice what i must do for this. im in dubai of united arab emirates & i am from india.
im 29 years male.

Hi,
It does sound like you have damage to the hair root on your face, and this could be from trauma or from a disease of the nerve to the hair root. Before taking any injections, I would ask your doctor to perform some diagnostic tests to confirm the health, or dysfunction of the nerves in that area. Also, a biopsy of the skin should be done to rule out bacterial or fungal infection.
I hope this information is helpful.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Belk
AnswerHi,
A dermatologist would be able to biopsy the area and determine if you have an infection of some sort, and once that it ruled out, the dermatologist could refer you to a neurologist for testing of the facial nerves. I hope you find the answer and get treatment soon.
Take care and God Bless,
