Hello,i am a 21 yrs old male having serious hair loss and thinning .There are already bald spots on my head.I fear that in 1 or 2 yrs i will be heavily bald.I have heard of propecia(finasteride 1 mg),but at my age is it suitable to be taken?There are many side eefects related to sexual infirmities i have heard of ,so is it advisable to take porpecia?i have tried minoxidil but with no effect.pls advice.

Hi Rick,

Propecia does have sexual side effects which may or may not cause problems for you. You have to decide which is more important to you...the chance that Propecia may work for you but cause sexual problems, or accept the hair loss. I will tell you that with all the "hair growth" medications, once you stop taking them, the effects you achieved will be lost. Your age really isn't that big a factor, unless you consider that you may be taking a drug for 25 years just to avoid being bald at an early age.
