Question Hi Candie,
I would like to know how to get light ash blonde hi-lites on hair thats bleached. Also can I first put the mrdium ash blonde hair colour on my bleached hair and then foil.
I cannot afford a hairdresser at the moment and have bleached my before with no problem so far. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for your reply in advance.

Tina
Answer Hi Tina,
If you put an ash color on your already bleached hair it will either come out with a green tone or a grey/blue tone. Reason for this is that there is no warmth in the hair and bleached hair is very porous and will grab the base very quickly. Even when wanting an ash color tone on your hair you must first put some warmth in the hair to achieve a nice rich color that does not fade too quickly or look dull or drab. All of which will occur if you simply apply an ash tone on the bleached hair.
This is why it is so very important to let a licensed professional color the hair after it has been bleached. The hair must be filled with a filler that will create a foundation for the color to stay in the hair. This can be a very tricky formulation if one does not have the proper training and know how.
If after everything I have said you still insist upon coloring the hair yourself, then my suggestion is to not use an ash color but instead use a color that has a neutral base so it does not end up too green or grey looking for you.
I hope this has helped with your question today, if there is anything else you would like to ask please use the follow up link. Thank you and good luck.
