Question
I wanted to get a new look and my hairsyle list knew i wanted to change the color of my hair so she suggested highlights. Im assuming she dyed it cus it came out honey brown, blond color...i need help on taking care of it? MY hair is african american type n i get perms should i stop?

Answer
Hi Kisha,

I wouldn't suggest trying to lighten the hair anymore since it is already had that done once and a perm on the hair.  If you do decide to try and lighten the hair again make sure you do a strand test first though.  What I am assuming happened it that the lightener was not left on the hair long enough to actually lighten the hair light enough for you and what you ended up with was more pigment from the hair than you wanted, showing. What you can do is try toning the hair with a demi-permanent toner that does not contain any ammonia so it will not hurt or damage the hair any.  Use a toner that has a blue or blue violet base to help neutralize that honey brown color or brassiness is what we refer it too.

I hope this has been helpful and if there is anything else please use the follow up link.  Thank you and good luck.
