Subject: highlights and lowlights

Question
Presently I have blonde highlights throughout my hair (which is naturally a light ash brown). I'm considering a chocolate-y brown lowlight for my next step at the salon. Seeing how my roots will start to show soon would I just be able to get the lowlights in place of the highlight? rather than both? Would the lowlights cover my roots? I'm sure I could just ask my stylist but I'm not going in for another couple weeks. I would really appreciate an opinion/answer. Thank you so much!

Answer
Hi Cassie,

I think the lowlights would be a great idea to cover your grow out you now have and to blend the highlights as they continue to grow out.  One thing to keep in mind though, if any of the highlighted hair is picked up in the low light process the blonde hair needs to be filled so that it does not fade out or become muddy looking.  Your stylist will know how to do this.

I hope this has been helpful if there is anything else then please just use the follow up link.  Thank you and good luck.
