Question I currently have orange hair. I used colorzap to get rid of my dark brown hair, then dyed it ashy blonde. it turned out red blonde. I tried highlighting it, resulting in bright orange hair. I then used a light toner, and it helped a little bit. I also bought Shimmering lights to get rid of the orange, and it barely worked.
I made an appointment for a salon on Saturday morning.
Should i go back to dark brown or continue on my quest for blonde hair?
Answer Alisha,
First of all, my apology for the delayed response. I was away and had not set vacation dates. First of all, the brown was not lifted out enough, so the blonde was not able to do it's job. Lighter colour will not lift darker colour, so without the draker colour being removed enough first, it can't work. And highlighting will only break it up somewhat, but the red will still be in between. and toner or shimmer lights won't really affect orange hair. They are also made to work on lighter backgrounds.
If you still want blonde, what you should do is just have them lift the colour slightly and then use a light brown/dark blonde colour and then highlight for the blonde effect. You'll still experience some dryness in the blonde, seeing that you've already highlighted, but not nearly as much damage as trying to become an all over blonde now. I would have suggested the blonde that you wanted if you had not highlighted already, but not now.
Best of luck to you.
