Hairstyling - Brazilian Hair Relaxer

Question
QUESTION: Hi Don,

I am thinking of doing the Keratin Hair Relaxer.
My natural hair used to be very wavy and thick but in the past years has been more frizzy and damaged due to coloring and highlights etc…
In the past year I have been getting my hair  blow-dried straight regularly twice a week.
The person who blow dries my hair has pulled it very hard and uses the dryer on high heat.
Unfortunately my hair is very dry and brittle from all the blow drying.
I have broken hair sections throughout my head.
If I don’t blow dry my hair straight it looks like hay so I have no choice to continue to blow dry it straight.
I do go to a professional now and have since cut my hair a few times to get some of the dry damaged hair off but still very dry and damaged.
My hair stylist suggested I do the Keratin Hair Relaxer.
I would appreciate your professional opinion.

Thank you very much!

ANSWER: Yes it is a good idea. Brazilian not Japanese.
Your type of hair benefits from this service greatly.
Make sure the operator have experience in this service.
In my salon the operators have to pass a special course
and preform the service on a couple of friends or relatives before allowed to
do it on paying clients.

QUESTION: Hi Don,

Thank you so much for your quick reply!
Will my hair be straight after the procedure?
Will I need to blow dry it after?
Can I just wash and go?
My natural hair is literally sticks of Hay.

Thanks again for all your help!

Lisa

Answer
Your hair will be smoother more than straight. There will be a straightness acheived but in your case the smoothness will greatly enhance your hair's look and feel.
Maybe in the beginnig it will be wash and go.
But sometimes after time some amount of blowing might be required.
Glad i can help. Please take some time to rate my responses-all 10's would be appreciated.
Don
