Hairstyling - Texturized Roots & Relaxed Ends

Question
Hello,

The pass 12 months I've worn a sew-in weave. I recently moved to the DC area, I've been having trouble finding a stylist.

Two weeks ago I went to a stylist to get my weave removed. The stylist recommended a texturizer instead of relaxer for my hair after she removed the weave.

To make a long story short.............my roots are curly and my ends are straight. My hair looks horrible.

How do I have to wait to apply a relaxer to my texturized roots?

Thank you for your help!

Answer
Hiya Renee,

It depends on the product she used for texturizer. Since a texturizer is just a relaxer left on for a shorter amount of time, you should be able to get it relaxed. I would highly recommend going back to the same stylist though so she can formulate properly based on what she already used on your hair.

She should have addressed the problem she created by texturizing the top and leaving straightened ends. I would call her and explain that the curly new growth with straight ends is not working and ask her fix it. That way she can use a compatible product. While it's never a good idea to overlap chemical services, she should have something she can use to make your hair look the way you'd like it to. Hopefully, you won't have to cut the straightened hair but I wouldn't trust a second stylist who may or may not be familiar with the products previously used on your hair.

Good luck,

dana
