Question
QUESTION: Hi, my natural hair colour is a mousey light brown.  I have been colouring it a dark brown/red colour for a couple of years (last coloured it 5 weeks ago). I want to lighten by hair back to a light brown with blonde highlights.  What would be the process to do this?  Thanks.

ANSWER: kelly,
Sorry but there is no process to liten dyed brown hair back to lite brown. Any litening would just produce a more red or orange color. If your hair was dyed lite brown and you wanted to go back to a darker brown then that can be acheived.
The only way to go back is to grow out.

QUESTION: Actually you are wrong! I didn't beleive you so I rang a hairdresser and they told me that it is possible to do that with a series of highlighting.  Maybe you should get your facts straight!!!

Answer
Kelly,
My facts have been straight for the 25 yrs i've been doing this. I am American Board Certified Colorist member. I know my stuff. Your hair with a "series" of lightnings will be liter but redder or even orange. I am not a hairdresser i am a hair colorist-thats all i do.
Beware of a hairdresser that promises u exactly what u asked for on the phone and wants you and your money to come to his salon. If u dont want to take my advise at least go with a picture from a magazine and then see what he says.
Kelly-it cant be done.
Don
