Hairstyling/how do I go strawberry blonde?

Question
Hi,

I don't have the money to go to a salon and maintain a hair color, so I'm trying to figure out how to do this myself. I have natural dirty blonde hair right now and I'd like to go a little lighter and add some red. I heard somewhere that there is a hair color that will lighten your hair while it adds color. 1 is this true and can I buy it (being a non professional), and 2, would this be the right product for me?
Here is an example of what I am going for...

Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to your response!

Answer
Hi Mandi:

This picture of Lohan's hair color is like a Russet color, Golden darker blonde/light brown with a hint of Kopper Red.  In color levels, it is around a 7/8 level.  This is a blend of colors.

If you combine a dark golden blonde, level 8 with a hint of Kopper red, or Golden Kopper, level 7 ( not too much red, just a little) with 20 voume developer you should come really close to this color.  However, I TRULY SUGGEST YOU DO A STRAND TEST FIRST BEFORE APPLYING ALL OVER YOUR HAIR.  Take a small strand of hair, underneath, and apply this color mixture. Leave on recommended time, about 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly , shampoo strand and then dry thoroughly.  If you like what you see, then you can apply all over.

Hope this helps.  If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via my email, efsaxe@yahoo.com
