Question Hello Hairman, I am very interested in getting permanent Med- Tight Spiral curls in my hair. My hair is about 3 inches from the middle of my back and it was last relaxed on May 25th 2009. What kinda of services should I ask for any palces you recommend in the Brooklyn or Queens area of NYC. Also how often will the process have to be done and how would I maintain my new look?
I also would like to know if it is safe to do the curls in my duaghter hair. she is five and her hair is very thick and hard to manage so she has had a childrens soft n beautiful texturizer two times thus far, lastly in late Feb 2009.
Thank you
Renee
Answer Renee,
Bad news all the way around here, unfortunately. First of all, I NEVER recommend chemical services for a child that small, period. The sceon reason I would not suggest it for her is the same reason you can't do it.
Once you have a relaxer on your hair, unless it's been done with a thio relaxer, you cannot put a curl in it until ALL relaxed hair has been cut off, or it will break off, period. Since hair grows about 1/2 inch a month, 6 inches takes about a year to grow out and be cut off. 12 inches would take about 2 years. A texturizer is chemically the same as a relaxer.
If your services were done with any typre os sodium, calcium or potassiem relaxer, you have to wait until it's all cut out.
Best of luck to you
