Question I'm asian so I have my natural black hair and I got light brown highlights a few months ago. Now I want to dye my hair to a medium brown color- darker than the color of my highlights. I want to use Garnier Nutrisse Color Creme: medium golden brown. So if I dye my hair with this hair dye, my black hair should lighten and my highlights should darken- so the result would be the even, desired color right? Or would the dye lighten my black hair ALONG with my light brown highlights? And also, is Garnier a good brand to be using? Thanks in advance.
Answer Hiya Leah,
You really need to consider going to a professional colorist for what you are wanting to do. You cannot put one color over 2 toned hair and get one color. Also, if you put a golden brown and lift your black hair, you are going to get orange. Not golden brown. There is a lot more to color than meets the eye. What you want to do is a lot more complicated than that.
Another thing to consider is that if you try to do the color at home, and it does not come out the way you hope it will, it is going to take twice as long, cost twice as much and be half as good had you had it done correctly the first time.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but black hair to brown is difficult even for some stylists.
