Several days ago I got my hair highlighted at an Aveda Salon. Before, my hair was a darker/medium brown and I wanted to get some auburn highlights and wanted them to look extremely natural.
The stylist put three different colors in my hair, two different reds and one copper-ish color right around my face and in a couple of strips over my head. The copper looks terrible. I was told that dying my hair a chestnut brown with a semi-permanent color would downplay the copper and even out the highlights.
Do you think this would be a good idea? What is the best brand to use? I will hopefully be getting my money back from the original salon, but hate the idea of spending more. Thank you!
Answer Cat,
Unfortunately, friends don't always give the best or most accurate advice. Doing what your friend will make matters worse. What you need to do is go back to the salon. If what you're unhappy with is the copper colour around your face (as you seem to indicate) then why just cover everthing over? Since the copper is not natural looking as you had asked, they should be willing to paint over the copper strands with a medium brown that would tone it down to a more acceptable colour. It's a simple enough remedy.
Best of luck to you.
