Question
Hello! I want to get a permanent wave in my hair and I am not about it turning out the way I want it. I do not want a spiral perm just a wave. I would think it would be big rodes? I am not sure what I should say. Is it smart to have them do it without a chemical first to see if that is what I want?

Answer
Kelly,
A spiral would only be used for long hair. All you need to do is explain to the stylist what you want, or bring a picture with you. For wave or looser curl, larger perm rods would be use, according to the actual pattern you want. Just getting your hair set will not give you a look anything like a perm will, so it would not help in that respect.
Whan looking for pictures to show the stylist, be sure that they are pictures of naturally dried wavy hair, NOT hair that was styled to look that way. Permed hair left to dry looks nothinglike hair that has been set or styled, so those pictures would be of no real use.
Best of luck to you.
