Question OK - I need a shorter style now that I'm getting older. Here are some facts
I am 45 yrs old, 5'8", signficantly overweight but very active. I have dark brunette hair of medium wavy texture and it is very very thick.... Oval face and blue eyes, fair skin.... not greying much at all
I need something easy care - I don't mind putting some product in my hair, but prefer wash & go (while wet)....
Answer Beth,
The fact that your hair is wavy is in your favor for easy care. As for style, an oval face can usually wear anything, as the oval face shape is the accepted standard. HOWEVER, the fact that you are overweight (as you state) changes the rules just a bit. You would still want to slenderize the appearance of your face and give a more slender illusion. To do this, keep the hair closer at the sides. This doesn't mean that it has to be very short, but just so that it lies closely to the face at the sides. Keeping a bit of length at the sdies for softness would be excellent, like softness in front of the ears coming toward the cheeks. Maintain some volume on top and some at the top sides. This will also create more of an illusion of the face narrowing as the eye comes down, and the height on top will help to elongate the face, aggain, slendrizing it. And avoid bangs, as they cut off the face, making it look shorter and wider.
This kind of shape with some mousse added should work perfectly for wash and go hair.
Best of luck to you.
