Question
I have a Packard Bell PC from 2003 and apparantly the hard drive is unable to be formatted.  However, I want to remove this and put in a new hard drive (first of I need to know if that would be OK) but I am not too sure how to dismantle it since I have removed the four screws at the back but that did not really help too much.  Can you let me know how to do this.  It is an i Xtrmem if that helps.

Many thanks
Erik

Answer
Opening the computer will depend if the side panels remove separately or the sides are connected to the top. If the sides are separate, you want to slide to left side (if looking at the computer from the front) off to get to the insides. Some cases you need to pull off the front plastic panel to get the sides off.
If you want to take some pics you cans end them to me at cmorrison0927@hotmail.com - so i can see what your dealing with.

Once the case is open , there will be screws holding the drive in the bay. 2 on left side, if there is two on the right you need to remove the right side panel too to get to them.

upgrading the drive size will depend on what the motherboard can handle.

I can help more but i'll need the model and serial number - usually located on the back side on a sticker. I'll be able to help you with what size you can handle and removal and install then.  Just post back or email me.
