Question Hi,
i am unable to install window XP in a 500gb SATA external disk which is connected to my system through usb port.
when start installing from CD it is started and going till the drive selection for installing windows xp. i partitions made c and d.
when select C partition for installing XP in the next step i am getting message ... Unable to install in this drive....partition may not have more space ....driver may not be there....
like this and aborted to the installation.

Answer That is a default function in XP and vista. They will not let you install to a external drive. There are some work arounds for this. Just google it. Most of the methods involve editing the cabs on the windows CD and creating a new CD.
I have heard that some people have managed to do an image (using ghost or acronis) and restored the image to an external and got the drive to boot that way, but I have had no luck with that myself.
