Question Hello!
I have notebook model A535 from www.ecs.com.tw with WINXP SP1 installed. I need re-instal winxp(clean instalation), but my DVD-CD drive is broken so I have to use usb-boot. And it doesn't work. With One guide how to make USB bootable after booting I get error message NTLDR is missing (I read many articles how to solve it,no success). Another guide results in some grab4dos enviroment, but WIN xp does't start(problem with "menu.lst"). Finally I have to say, usb boot is ok, it works in my desktop PC.
thanks in advance for any "kick" how to continue
Answer You will need to check the BIOS to make sure the notebook is set to boot off of the USB device, rather than the hard drive first. This should fix the problem you are having. Secondly, you should be able to replace NTLDR using the standard replacing format found online. I have included the link. http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm
