Hawaii - flower in hair

Expert: Malia - 12/25/2008

Question
A young Hawaiian lady, about 20, that I know slightly, was wearing her hair up the other day and on top of the hair she was wearing a deep red or purplish flower SLIGHTLY to the right and OVER her right ear, does this mean anything? or does she just like to wear a flower in her hair?

Thank you.

Answer
Aloha and merry Christmas,
The color and type of flower is personal preference or just whatever flower is in season.
On the right side it means you are single on the left you are taken or married.
Even slightly on right or left when hair is up means that. It's always over the ear.
Hope this helps
