Hawaii - vacation in Maui

Question
My preference would be to stay on Kaanapali beach. Could you recommend a hotel that would work for me and my daughter. Nice but not too pricy. Visited once some time ago.I liked the walk way where the hotels are .

Answer
Hello Marge,

I wish I had a good answer for you, however all of the hotels I would recommend on Ka'anapali that are acceptable are pricey. What you CAN do is get a package deal (hotel, car and airfare, or even hotel and car) and save a considerable amount of money. Out of all of the resorts along that beach, usually the Sheraton is the least expensive, however I find the garden rooms (the lowest category) to be cramped and if in the wrong part of the hotel, really hot. The Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is relatively inexpesive but I do not recommend it.  Try apple vacations, pleasant holidays, travelocity, expedia, etc. and comparison shop packages. That is your best bet.

The last thing I can recommend is considering a condo. There is a place called the Whaler that is right in the middle of all of the activities and for a studio, isn't too pricey. Otherwise there is a nice (albeit not beachfront) condo called Outrigger Maui El Dorado that is often a good value as well.

Good Luck & Aloha,
Lena
